Yellow-spotted Whiteface

Sunday was about more as just Lilypad Whitefaces. As can be seen in the movie in the previous post, we also found several Yellow-spotted Whitefaces. In fact, this was the most common species of whiteface that we found that day. In a small ditch we found at least 50 different individuals, which makes us wonder what the total population of this quite rare dragonfly would be in the area. Because of the high temperatures the dragonflies were really active, which made it hard to approach them without scaring them away. So I used the 300/2.8 with 2x converter again, so I could stay at 2.5m distance. This only caused a problem with other leaves being in front of the dragonfly, but sometimes I could just peek through these leaves, as was the case with this picture. In this picture I especially like (apart from the dragonfly of course) the background.
