Antarctic Sound

Tabular Icebergs at sunset

Because of several currents the Antarctic Sound is often filled with huge tabular icebergs. Most of them originate from even larger tabular bergs that broke off one of the ice shelfs in the Weddell Sea, but some of them are most likely also from other parts of Antarctica. In late evening light these bergs are often nicely lit, especially when there are some darker clouds in the sky to add to the drama.
