Polar Bear

Somehow we often have overcast skies when we’re in the pack ice. Probably because when it is sunny the water in the lower parts of the atmosphere condensates creating fog. Now clouded skies are not that bad to find Polar Bears. Somehow they stand out more when the sun isn’t shining. There are less shadows, so a bit other coloured blob is easier to find. And when a bear is found and comes close to the ship the exposure of the pictures is actually easier without the sun making the many whites even whiter… But when you’ve got the exposure right, the sun will of course add an extra dimension to the image, like with this encounter. It was hard work finding the bear, but it was well worth it…
