Svartknausflya – Nordaustlandet

Welcome to the desert. Not a hot and sandy one, but a cold and stony. The Polar Desert is one of my favourite biotopes in the high Arctic. Barren, empty, dry and cold. It’s always nice to wander around and see what you can find. Sometimes you find an oase. A bit of melt water running down from a glacier up hill makes the desert a little less dry. Immediately you see plants growing around the wet parts. No camels here, only the occasional Reindeer, but I always wonder what they’re eating. Even with an oasis like this, there is hardly anything to eat…
