Spring time (3)
Another advantage of spring time is that it happens regularly that rarer birds show up on the archipelago. This spring I’ve already seen a Common Gull and a Greenshank (only the 5th record on Spitsbergen). A bit more common is this Red-necked Phalarope, who is an uncommon breeder. But also on I hadn’t seen before here. So I was really pleased as two of them walked along the shore of the little tundra pond I was sitting at. Really nice birds in summer plumage.
