Petermann Island, Antarctica

In recent weeks I’ve read a lot of bad news about the Polar regions. Climate change, melting glaciers, decreasing penguin numbers, ice sheets breaking off, record low amount of sea ice in the Arctic… I think it’s important to show what is happening at the ends of our world.

However, it’s also good to balance news like that. Preferably with good news, but otherwise with items on the beauty of these areas. Just to show why it’s worth to preserve those areas. Here an image taken from Petermann Island, my southernmost point of the past Antarctic season, just south of Lemaire Channel.
