Foggy ride

Zodiac cruise at Isispynten
Zodiac cruise at Isispynten
Fog is often very annoying. It blocks our view and makes it difficult or often impossible to go ashore or find Polar Bears in the ice. However, sometimes it can also be really nice, it can add to the atmosphere. This day we had sailed around in the fog for most of the day. When we reached Isispynten, some small islands at the magnificent Austfonna glacier front, we still couldn’t see a lot. However, we still decided to go for a zodiac cruise. Hurray for modern techniques like GPS, which made it possible to find the islands and make it safely back to the ship at the end. In between, we found a Polar Bear on the island, but mainly enjoyed the very special atmosphere of icebergs in the fog. It’s very special to not be able to see anything, and then suddenly see a blue iceberg appear from the fog. We didn’t see much, but when we came back to the ship, everybody experienced something that is very difficult to convey in words. Maybe the picture will do the trick…
