Bird cliffs are always fascinating places. There is always something happening. Sometimes very spectacular things, sometimes less spectacular, but there is always something to see. And if the birds do not show that much, you can always watch the lush vegetation underneath. As you can see in this image, the bird cliffs are clearly marked by the dark green patches of vegetation underneath, caused by the constant fertilisation by the nesting birds. In this case, the vegetation is rich enough for peat to be formed, something that only happens on very few places on Spitsbergen.
