Polar Bears on a kill

Meet some happy bears. The best place for a bear to be is on the pack ice. There are seals on the pack ice, meaning there is food for them. Only one out of 20 hunts is successful for a bear, so if they have caught one, they will enjoy it thoroughly. Normally they will keep the kill all for themselves, but when there is enough, they might be willing to share. However, six bears feeding together on one seal is really rare. You can clearly see in the picture they prefer eating the layer of fat just underneath the skin and leave most of the rest for later. The Glaucous Gulls sit and wait to see if they can get something, without turning into a meal themselves. The two gulls on the left side of the picture remind me of the two old men in the muppet show 🙂
