Bearded Seal

Bearded Seals are pretty large seals. However, when you photograph them in their natural environment, they are not that big anymore. However, I often find these pictures more attractive as the frame filling ones. Pictures like this tell much more of a story, like in this case that the seal will always be hauling out close to the edge of the ice, allowing for a quick retreat into the sea when being attacked by a Polar Bear. The problem with pictures like this however is that they don’t work too well on smaller screens. I hope it works in this case anyhow.

  1. Beautiful image (and a good reminder that it’s often not necessary to get super close to a subject).
