Sunset in Scoresby Sund

I don’t know who came up with the name Greenland and definitely not what he was thinking, but I don’t know many names that are so misplaced as Greenland. I can think of many colours associated with the island, but green is not one of them. White of course, because of the icecap that covers the interior parts. Or blue, after the many blue icebergs floating around. Or maybe red, because of the bright red colours of the vegetation in autumn. Or maybe orange, as one can see in this picture, because of the spectacular sunsets… As the parts of Greenland that we visited were a bit further south compared to Spitsbergen, the sun did really set when we came there. This was the first sunset in the Scoresby Sund fjord system and the first with the huge icebergs. We spent a long time outside enjoying this spectacular sight in Orangeland.

  1. This is absolutely magic, a truly wonderful impression.

  2. I think I remember being told it was to prevent people from settling in iceland and promote moving to greenland that they switched the names around LOL
