Just another day at the office (part II)
The Negribreen (named after a certain Italian called Negri, not after a black colour) has a huge glacier front ending in sea. One of the shots I had in mind was a bird flying in front of the blue glacier front, showing the beauty of the glacier and the bird.
With everybody on deck watching for birds, one of the guests said: “To the left, more Ivory Gulls as I can count!!!” Well, they were not uncountable, I counted between 50 an 60, but there were many. One of the nicest Arctic birds with its pure white plumage, black legs and eye and odd-coloured bill. Now my goal changed from photographing ‘a bird’ in front of the glacier front to an Ivory Gull in front of a glacier front. With this many birds, this should be possible. This picture is one of the nicest as the bird just changed direction and creating a nice contrast between its white plumage and the blue ice.
