Grey Heron

One thing that the Netherlands is famous for are its polders. Land under sea level, often grassland surrounded by canals and dykes, crossed by ditches to get rid of the excess water. Not really nature reserves, but still inhabited by several bird species. I’ve got a few close to my home and I plan to visit them some times the coming months to follow the changes of spring.

Today I just sat down, looking at the White Storks, Canada Geese, Mallards and this Grey Heron. The latter wanted to pose nicely for me. It can be really nice to enjoy nature, even if it isn’t spectacular or rare. It’s also nice just to enjoy the common sights.
