Meet my favorite species of Duck: the Wigeon. He is nicely colored, but why I like him the most is his sound, a very typical whistle. Not very duck like as they normally have a much duller sound. In winter large groups can be found in lakes and in polders where they feed on grass. Here a picture of two males swimming in front of a small island. Too bad I can’t show the sound they make with it…

  2. The Eurasian wigeon is a rare sighting in the United States. And I just captured my first sighting just weeks ago , a single one with a group of American wigeons. Yours I will say is the prettier of the two!
