White-tailed Eagle

Today I went looking for Middle Spotted Woodpeckers. Only a couple of years ago they only occurred in the southernmost part of the Netherlands. Now they are a scarce breeder along the whole eastern border. Last year they were found breeding in Eibergen for the first time. Early spring is one of the best times of year to find woodpeckers, so today I started my search. Unfortunately we only found a few  Greater Spotted Woodpeckers. After some time we decided to move on. We decided to drive around near the Zwillbrocker Venn. In the meadows around this nature reserve many geese are wintering and sometimes we find some Buzzards or Great White Egrets. As soon as we arrived there, we saw a large group of geese panicking. Reason for this was a large raptor. My first thought was a Buzzard, but soon we realized it was way to big to be a Buzzard. When I had another look it turned out to be a White-tailed Eagle!! It was chasing some geese and Wigeons and was being chased by some Carrion Crows. Those crows looked tiny compared to the eagle. After a short while it left and we couldn’t find it anymore. But I’m sure I’ll have another try tomorrow, todays pictures aren’t too good and I hope to get any better ones.
