Mycena and leaves

Last sunday I gave a workshop mushroom photography. Not really my thing, but it can be nice for a change. During a workshop most attention goes to the participants of course. Giving short explanations about white balance, composition or exposure and helping them out in the field. But now and then I see something that I want to photograph myself. In this case it was a small mycena species that just popped it head out of some leaves. A typical autumn scene. For this picture I laid down low, to create a unsharp brown fore- and background (the leaves), with only the mushroom in focus. The hole in the hood is probably made by a small snail, they regularly eat mushrooms.

  1. this looks almost surreal. Like it should belong in the Willy Wonka movie. Nice work!
