The first one!
Today we had two different workshops, one general nature photography workshop in the Fochteloerveen and in the afternoon a macro photography workshop in the Dwingelderveld. Two nice groups, great weather, in the morning a marten (unfortunately too quick and too far away for a picture) and different insect flying around. For me the main goal (apart from telling people about nature photography of course) was to find my first dragonfly. Several species are flying around already in the Netherlands, but I haven’t seen any yet, apart from the winter damsels. In the morning workshop I was just explaining some things, when I heard someone say “Look! A dragonfly!”. Unfortunately I was just too late… In the afternoon workshop I had more luck. First I saw a Ruby Whiteface flying around, but he was gone too quick for a picture. Later one of the participants showed a picture of another one. It flew away when I saw it, but sat down again on one of the best spots it could find. On a blade of grass, with not much distracting things anywhere near and hardly any wind. This way we could easily find the best composition and all take turns in taking pictures of this nice individual. In the end I liked this classic pose the best.
