Common Bluetail

For taking good pictures it’s often important to check out areas, to find new places or to see if old places are still ok. Today I went to a small grassland close to my home that I hadn’t visited this year. The last years it was really nice with many dragonfly species, with the  Broad Scarlet as the highlight.

This year it looks less promising. Due to the fairly cold spring I wasn’t too surprised not to find any Broad Scarlets yet, but the field was overgrown with large thistles. There were still some dragonflies, but it was really hard to get to, though those thistles. Despite all this, I still managed to take a picture of this Common Bluetail, so I can’t complain too much.
