Green-eyed Hawker

The weather has changed a lot since the last post. The past days have been very sunny and very hot. Today I went out to a place with a large population of Green-eyed Hawkers, a not very common species in the northern part of the Netherlands. I saw about ten individuals on a small stretch, so the population is still doing fine over there. The warm weather posed another problem. As it was warm enough, the dragonflies had plenty of energy and kept on flying. From a small bridge I managed to get a few shots. This male was resting with some spider web hanging from its abdomen.

I think I have to go back a bit later in the evening one time. When it cools down a little, the dragonflies will sit down and pose a little bit better.
