Today I went back to one of my local patches. It’s really nice to see all those damselflies flying around again. At the moment they’re all Variable Bluets, later the Common Bluetails will come as well.
Sunday afternoon is never the best time to take pictures there. Many families come there for their sunday afternoon walk. Nothing wrong with that, but it always results in many questions. “Do you see anything special?” “Oh, we have to be quiet, otherwise we scare is.” The best question I ever got was when I had aimed my camera at some grass: “Are you taking pictures of the Osprey?” …. That’s the nice thing about macro photography. It opens a completely new world. A world that many people don’t know exists. Take a look at this fly. I know for sure that many people walk past it, not noticing anything. But when you take a closer look a small strip of grass turns out to be filled with life.
Also another movie today. One of the Bluets had captured a fly and sat down to eat it. Its really nice to see how she’s chewing on the fly.
