Tufted Duck

No, not a very exotic place, just around the corner from my new apartment. But with my new geotagger I can easily capture the exact location where I take my pictures. Not really necessary in the Netherlands, but more so if I’m somewhere in the Arctic. My christmas present from the owners of Nederpix, well appreciated!! Today was the first day I tried working with it and I still have to figure out a little how it works best (especially how to attach the location to the picture, but I’ll figure that out somehow 🙂

Coot

When I drove home yesterday I noticed several Tufted Ducks in a bit of open water close to my home. As it was too dark already back then, I went back today. Temperatures are above freezing, so I think the ice will melt quickly and the ducks will be gone soon. Fortunately they were still there and the Coots came even swimming towards me, apparently someone has been feeding them. The Tufted Ducks were a little bit more shy, but as there wasn’t much space they could go to. And as I laid down in the snow and stayed still for a while, they started to come closer again. Unfortunately my 40D (which I still use for birdshots) was still put on 1600 iso, which I noticed way too late, so there is some noise in the pictures. But it’s still nice to work with birds again for a change.
