Finally, it’s winter in the Netherlands and not just winter, real winter. In a few cold days most water has frozen and yesterday we even had some snow. Because of this, temperatures have plummeted to -18ºC at night. In the Netherlands this means, apart from huge traffic jams and non-funtional trains, that people start to look for their skates, dress warmly and start skating on lakes, ponds, canals.
During the day the Paterswoldse Lake was buzzing with people skating in one big line. When the sun started to set, most people were cold or got hungry, so they decided to go home. This lone skater was making one final round, all by himself over the now empty lake.

En nou die Elfstedentocht nog hè?
Fijn weekend!
No doubt the last skater had the time of his life having the lake to himself at the end of the day. Love the colors in the photo!
